The 2025 yearling sales season has kicked off as expected with the Magic’s holding up pretty good as the top end just keeps growing. With propped up averages we were able to score 2 nice yearlings with a 30-40% deduction from 2024 and we expect this weakness to continue for the rest of the year.

What does this mean for Lundholm Lodge?

Unfortunately with the downturn at the auction it is reflective of owner shortages and trainers unable to fill their books. Fortunately for Clint Lundholm Racing we have done our homework, looked after our clients and ensured we bought what they wanted. We have learnt from the errors of previous years where we bought one too many yearlings and thankfully we have broken the back of our sales and the owners are happy.

Will we buy at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale?

It’s 50:50 at this stage with the tried horse market continuing to pack plenty of punch. The metropolitan trainers-owners from Victoria and New South Wales continue to sift through their racing stock and for the west we can capitalise. Do we try and find another Brutal Love (pictured) from Inglis or do we look for a Truth I Fear with exposed form from south of the border.

The bloodstock team will be active so stay tuned.
